The seed of the concept of this massive infographic happened casually during the first kickoff meeting, where the client (a Learning and Development sub-branch of LinkedIn) shyly suggested that they really loved the word “growth”. After an initial round of concepting that involved everything from seed packets to skyscraper construction, what stuck was an apple tree. In true Giving Tree style, the metaphor could grow vertically and create pauses along the trunk to bring each insight to life with illustrated vignettes that I custom-made. The end result was a fully integrated and often joyful way to convey the connection between skills and growth. To promote it, I storyboarded a series of animated banners that extended that same playful tone into new metaphors. Our in-house animation team brought the boards to life beautifully.
